A Dance for his Warrior Grandfathers

Oil on canvas, 36"h x 24"w; framed: 42"h x 30"w, Item No. 13005,

This Blackfoot Dancer is honoring his Grandfather's legacy by wearing his old horsehair roach-style headdress.(it was dyed in a red pigment which symbolizes war, strength and victory). The two ledger drawings are of his Grandfather. One in his prime as a Warrior and the other, as Chief of the Blackfoot People. Through song and dance, we Native people honor our ancestors and maintain integrity, strength and pride, only to preserve any dying traditions.
